According to David J. McCutchion, Jain builders went on building temples in the remote areas of old Manbhum district till the 13th century or before the Islamic invasion. Many of them are still standing at Bahulara, Harmasra, Deulbhirya, Ambikanagar, Chharra, Pakbirra, Suisa or Deuli, in modern Bankura and Purulia districts.

  House of the Devil:  Diara Sharif of Shyampur, the residence of Ghulam Sarwar Husseini.  In 1937, Gholam Sarwar Husseini, the scion of a Muslim Pir family, was elected to the Bengal Legislative Assembly on a Krishak Praja Party ticket. However, in the 1946 elections, he lost to a Muslim League candidate. Sarwar's family happened to be the hereditary khadims at the Diara Sharif in Shyampur. Dandesvara and Mahamaya Mandir, Karnagarh, West Medinipur

  This is a group of two temple which is dedicated to Mahadev and Mahamaya which is associated with the ancient fort of Karnagarh. Which stand unhurt and excellent in thin structure.  The Anadilinga Dandeshwar temple is 60 ft tall and is nearly 20.6 ft long. It is an example of the Orissa school of architecture. There is a stone natmandap of about 4 ft in height and a deul or biman. A Shivalinga inside the temple is worshiped by Kharagaeswar Mahadeva. The Mahamaya temple stands on the left of the Dandeshwar temple. It is also built in the Orissa style and dedicated to the mother goddess mahamaya. The temple is 33 ft tall and the jagmohan itself is about 20 ft high. Karnagarh is famous for Chuar Revolt led by Rani Siromoni in April 1798. David J. McCutchion mentions the Dandesvara temple as having a pirha larger than the main temple, measuring 13’ 6” square + 25’ square, built of laterite having stucco decoration. 1946 Noakhali: Atrocities on Hindus (3)

  The destroyed house of Rajendralal Roychowdhury. On 11 October, 1946, the private army of Gholam Sarwar, known as the 'Miyar Fauz'(literally Miyan's Army), attacked the residence of Rajendralal Roychowdhury, the president of the Noakhali Bar Association and the Noakhali District Hindu Mahasabha. At that time Swami Tryambakananda of Bharat Sevashram Sangha was staying at their house as a guest. Roychowdhury fended off the mob from his terrace with his rifle for the entire day. At nightfall, when they retreated, he sent the swami and his family members to safety. The next day the mob attacked again. Rajendralal Roychowdhury's severed head was presented to Golam Sarwar on a platter and his two daughters were given to two of his trusted generals. According to Sucheta Kriplani, Rajendralal Roychowdhury had followed the footsteps of Shivaji and Guru Gobind Singh and became a martyr, defending his faith and family honour.
